Supportive Care

Supportive care

Right from your welcome on arrival to the planning and delivery of your treatment, through to the completion of your treatment and well into your aftercare, there will always be a psychologist, various nurses and/or a physiotherapist available to you. This means that, if at any time required, you will be able to discuss and talk completely freely about your treatment and how it may be affecting you to a trained and trusted medical professional. At The Nottingham Oncology Group, we ensure that you will receive dedicated supportive care from our whole team who are here to help you on your journey in whatever way we can.

As specialists in cancer care, we work very closely with a variety of experienced colleagues and professionals in the field to deliver the best quality of treatment possible. All of our teams are dedicated to providing you with the support and guidance you need. We will do our very best to make sure your treatment is as manageable as possible, with help in organising appropriate medication to managing the side effects of your treatment, through to liaising with your GP and District Nursing team or organising referrals for specialist support.

All of our cancer patients have complete access to a nurse-led supportive advice telephone line which is staffed 24 hours per day and seven days a week. More often than not advice can be given over the telephone. however, when it cannot be our patients can also contact The Nottingham Oncology Group specialist for more direct advice or even arrange to see a specialist urgently, if and when required.

At The Nottingham Oncology Group, we are always seeking to further develop the range of supportive care we are able to offer and we welcome your feedback and suggestions to help us develop our services.

I would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff for all their support and friendship over the past 12 months. Listening when I needed to talk, understanding when the tears flowed, and all the hugs when needed. I couldn't fault anything during my stay and you are all "a wonderful team".
